Rubber Chicken Audio is a home for audible waveforms of all shapes and sizes, from sketch comedy podcasts to radio plays, songs and whatever seems like a fun distraction on any given Tuesday.
Our original website, TheRubberChickeN64, began as an obscure and offbeat Nintendo fanpage in 2000. As we became less fixated on sincere Banjo-Kazooie reviews and more on ridiculous animated GIFS, we realised we were better off as a self-proclaimed “comedy” website.
With a new dream of becoming a polite SomethingAwful.com knock-off, we relaunched as The Rubber Chicken and had a wonderful, creative run. We attracted a small but loyal fanbase, befriended some startlingly talented writers and embarked on a decade of bizarre editorials, critiques of ’90s cartoons and general tomfoolery. (Oh! And remember that rumour about John Rhys-Davies being cast as General Grievous in Star Wars Episode III? That was us. We’re a culturally relevant SomethingAwful.com knock-off.)
When we started The Rubber Chicken Podcast in 2006, it quickly became our new calling. Even as updates slowed and production stalled; even as we accumulated spouses, jobs and adult lives, we each kept a special, podcast-shaped hole in our hearts. It’s a life-threatening affliction that remains proudly untreated to this day.
Alastair Craig is a copywriter, nauseating optimist and, in his spare time, a passionate audio producer. He started Rubber Chicken Audio for the chance to indulge in his favourite hobby with some of his favourite people on the planet. He lives in Brisbane, Australia with his wife and 4.6 billion-year-old meteorite, both of which he is prone to namedrop at the least appropriate moments.
